AGOVV Apeldoorn was his home the following season where he made an impressive team season debut which brought the attention of SC Heerenveen who kept him for one and a half seasons before Ajax Amsterdam muscled their way in for the striker for €9m. When Ajax bought him, Huntelaar had scored 16 goals in 14 games in the 2005 season.
